SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 27. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Javier Parrilla, reported this Monday that the aid for the livestock health defense groups (ADSG) of the Island, worth 100,000 euros, is already in the process of being paid.
Javier Parrilla explained that the subsidies will be granted to seven associations (Ovican, Aprolec, Porcino de Tenerife, Agate, Avicola, Apiten and Caprino Guajara), which represent a total of 173 livestock farms on the island.
According to the island counselor, these subsidies “will favor the implementation of zoosanitary and public health measures in the island’s livestock farms and will improve the conditions for obtaining and handling sheep and goat milk.”
Parrilla also affected that the Cabildo “has not forgotten the beekeeping sector in these grants.” “Sanitary conditions and disease control in beekeeping is one of the fundamental pillars of the strategy that I presented in the last plenary session,” he added.
With regard to the distribution of the aid, 1,500 euros will be granted in a fixed manner to each of the seven ADSGs, while the remaining 89,500 euros will be distributed, 50 per cent, based on two criteria: number of holdings of each association and number of Large Livestock Units (UGM) owned by the farms, which in this case add up to a total of 14,379.
The island councilor also emphasized that the island’s cheesemakers have until July 15 to request aid for the implementation of programs to improve the quality of sheep and goat milk produced on island farms, They have a budget of 200,000 euros.
Both aids are part of the commitment of the Island Corporation to promote and strengthen the livestock sector, sustain productivity and health conditions and reduce uncertainty.
In this sense, the head of the primary sector highlighted that the Cabildo will invest 2.1 million euros this year in direct aid for the Tenerife livestock sector, and recalled that last April the urgent processing of four of these aids was approved , worth 1.68 million euros.
