The recovery of the roads and trails of La Guancha is underway

In 2019, the City Council of La Guancha, through the Department of Works and Services directed by Juan Felipe Rodríguez, launched a project whose purpose was to create a inventory of royal roads and public trails that the municipality has. The actions included and developed within the framework of that first phase focused on the urban and upper middle areas. Currently, this work is carried out on the roads located in the area of the low middle area and the coast.

The municipal government reports that the actions, which began last May, consist of collecting data through queries from sources of information of digital origin, the current and historical spelling, the Cadastre and/or Property Registry and the historical cartography. Also, it considers the carrying out field workwith the corresponding consultation of both oral and written sources, depending on the project.

Felipe Rodríguez highlights that they want to have an inventory of these spaces for public use

The work, which has a term for its development of six months, includes the preparation of material that must include the tour of the paths highlighting the public nature, its current state or the use that was given to it in the past, among other issues valued as relevant. The project will allow, at the same time, to have the model of individualized plans of the aforementioned paths, locating all the information collected from each one of them.

Collaboration

The oral testimony of the residents of La Guancha will be, once again, essential to determine the sections and the layout of these that have disappeared and to complete the inventory, with data on their historical evolution not only for their recovery, but also for their enhancement for tourism purposes.

For the development of the planned actions, the City Council of La Guancha has contracted the services of a graduate in Geography and History of the municipality, a professional with extensive experience in the preparation of projects related to the territory and cartography, both municipal and insular. It so happens that he has also been responsible for the first phase.

Juan Felipe Rodríguez, Councilor for Works and Services, conveys the satisfaction of the local government because “this year, finally, we will be able to count on a complete inventory of the roads and trails of public use of La Guancha». At the same time, he values this project by explaining that “it will be an important tool to design future actions in the locality from the local Administration.”

To complete the development of this second phase of the initiative, the Consistory has a municipal investment amounting to 4,210 euros. The total budget, paid for with its own funds, amounted to about 15,000 euros, says the government group.
