The council has begun the process to renovate the 36 tourist information offices distributed throughout the island with an investment of two million euros. The island president Peter Martinindicates that “these points have to be reinvented to offer a quality image, equipment and services, as well as adapted to new consumption habits”

The Island Director of Tourism, Laura Castroanticipates that “an architectural and interior design remodeling of the offices will be carried out, as well as their digital transformation.”

The Insular Directorate of Tourism will allocate these two million euros to the renewal and improvement of the services of the network of tourist information offices, made up of 36 dependencies distributed throughout the insular geography. They are managed by both the Island Corporation and the 31 Tenerife municipalities.

Pedro Martín explains that “with this renewal of the network of offices we improve the image that we offer to tourists who visit Tenerife and we modernize its resources, with commonly used computer tools that will facilitate and go a step further in the provision of services of information in one of the main channels of tourist attention that we have».

The offices, indicates the president, “have to reinvent themselves to be true spaces of experiences, offering an image, equipment and services adapted to new consumption habits.”

«These spaces must be reinvented to be places of experiences adapted to the present»

For her part, the Island Director of Tourism of Tenerife, Laura Castro, highlights that “the Cabildo intends to generate and sustain an image of global quality promotion of the Island. This renewal of the network will allow our visitors to obtain services of quality tourist information, with a unified and easily recognizable image in any locality of the Island in which they are located».

comprehensive improvement

Laura Castro adds that the work is aimed at comprehensive improvement, both outside and inside, of the tourist information offices included in the Infoten Network. She delves into the idea: «It is about carrying out an architectural and interior design renovation of these spaces, as well as their digital transformation». A kind of three in one towards the modernity of the technological age.

Likewise, the insular director of the area explains that the investment program will have a total validity of five years, to be financed in the 2022-2026 annuities. It will be developed in coordination with the municipalities, through bilateral agreements that will be signed taking into account the new operating conditions of the tourist offices, the commitments assumed by the parties, as well as the financing regime for the actions to be carried out in the dependencies. .

different levels

The program contemplates the execution of different improvement works according to the needs detected. In other words, some offices will require demolition and subsequent reconstruction, in the case of the tourist office located outside the Reina Sofía Tenerife Sur airport. As an example, in this space the previous dependencies have been demolished and work is already being carried out on a new infrastructure for the attention of tourists. The possibility of providing the Island with more offices is also contemplated.
