SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 22 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de La Palma has proceeded to install a wireless public address system in Puerto Naos and La Bombilla to notify the population in the event of emergencies and, especially, in the presence of toxic gases, once can give people access, albeit in a restricted way, to both nuclei that are closed due to the existence of gases.

This action, carried out by the Digital Transformation area, with the collaboration of the Security and Emergency service, is part of the wireless public address network that has been deployed in La Palma since the volcanic eruption to facilitate warning to the population in emergency situations.

The Minister of Digital Transformation, Gonzalo Pascual, indicated that the devices have the capacity to communicate massively and immediately any alert situation, such as the emission of harmful gases derived from the volcano; dangerous or very adverse weather conditions; floods, or forest fires.

The wireless public address network consists of a control center and a set of loudspeakers distributed throughout the areas to be covered. The supervision and activation of these devices is centralized in the Insular Operational Coordination Center (Cecopin).

In this sense, the Minister of Security and Emergencies, Nieves Rosa Arroyo, stressed that the installation of this public address system responds to the adoption of security measures so that once access to this area of the coast can be authorized, proceed to the evacuation of the population to a safe area, if the presence of toxic gases is detected. Arroyo pointed out that measures are still being taken to guarantee the safety of people, which “has been our priority objective in the volcanic emergency.”
