The Burial of the Sardina de Santa Cruz will take place this year on June 23, the night of the bonfires, so it promises to be special. Even more so in the first year of summer carnivalsomething that many have not quite gotten used to but that, after the pandemic, many others want to take advantage of.

The Burial of the Sardine in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the events most anticipated by true carnival goers, especially on this occasion, in which the starting signal for the Fiestas is given. These are some data that must be taken into account for this edition.

Date and time of the Burial of the Santa Cruz Sardine

It will be on Thursday, June 23, for the first time in history because the current one is the first Santa Cruz Carnival in summerwhen the entourage departs. It will do so at 8:00 p.m. The Burial of the Sardine According to San Juan will take place on the night of the bonfires, so the day promises to be special.

From where?

The route does not change. The starting point, as usual, will be Juan Pablo II street. From there it will go through Méndez Ñúñez, Pilar, Villaba Hervás, La Marina and ending in the Plaza de España.

Will there be stages with music?

Yes, two: one located in the Plaza de la Candelaria and the other in the Príncipe. Canarian orchestras will perform in both places.

Until what time will it last?

3:00 in the morning will be the time when the music stops, ending the street party. On Friday the 24th the traditional Parade will be held, in addition to the fact that, like every first Friday of Carnival, there will be a street party.

The sardine will not burn

This year the sardine will be pardoned. Instead, Covid 19 will be burned but, something that does not change, the Chicharro Brotherhood of the Afilarmónica Ni Fú-Ni Fá will accompany, as always, the sardine. The virus, as always, will be burned on the Avenida Marítima at 10:00 p.m.

Will rain?

No. According to the Aemet, Santa Cruz de Tenerife expects clear skies and pleasant temperatures throughout the route, between 18 and 19 degrees.
