Between July 15 and 17, the Casa del Ganadero de San Diego will host the XLIII edition of the La Laguna Livestock Fair, an event that is recovering after the pandemic and that wants to be a “showcase” of the productive potential of the livestock sector against to the difficulties it is going through, reported the City Council of La Laguna.
The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, reiterated “the commitment of the City Council of La Laguna with the livestock sector, which has remained firm during this time, through direct subsidies and aid to native breeds, to face the consequences of the pandemic already new challenges, such as the war in Ukraine, which is having dire consequences for livestock”.
The local councilor stated: “This commitment leads us to promote this fair with a larger budget and more activities for all audiences.” Specifically, the Consistory has contributed 86,000 euros to this edition, mostly from the Rural Development area, but also from other departments such as the Department of Festivities.
«We celebrate a reference appointment for the livestock sector not only in La Laguna, but on the island of Tenerife. An appointment that reaches its XLIII edition and that we can finally recover after two years without being able to meet due to the pandemic,” said Gutiérrez, to which he then added: “Because we are convinced of the potential of our livestock sector for food production High quality and sustainable. And this Fair is the best showcase to show Tenerife society that potential”. Likewise, the mayor indicated that “the rural development policy of the City Council of La Laguna has a very clear strategy for the promotion of food sovereignty, environmental education and the sustainability of the territory.”
