The Victory of Acentejo takes yet another step towards sustainable mobility with the future construction, in the heart of the urban area, of a dissuasive public car park that will decongest traffic in the area, while promoting the use of bicycles, scooters and electric cars.

“The infrastructure will be a real incentive for the downtown area of La Victoria de Acentejo, since it will facilitate the social, cultural and commercial life of our neighbors and those who visit us,” said the mayor, Juan Antonio García. “Its strategic location next to the Consistory and the square, near the future auditorium and in the middle of the commercial area, will mark a before and after in the sustainable mobility of the municipality. This car park will become a kind of small-scale interchange, in which the user will leave their vehicle to continue their journey on foot or through other options that do not consume fossil energy, such as bicycles or electric scooters, which will be at their disposal. available at this location,” he said.

For the execution of the project, there is already a subsidy of 1,157,961 euros from the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, within its line of aid for local projects that favor the transition to a low-carbon economy and within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for sustainable growth (2014-2020). In addition, the City Council will make a contribution of 234,905 euros.

The building, which will have 90 parking spaces, will be built on Calle Pérez Díaz, on a plot of 806 square meters attached to the Town Hall, since the new infrastructure is also intended to improve accessibility to this building, that today has deficiencies in this regard.

The new infrastructure will consist of four floors, two underground and two above ground, and a photovoltaic installation will be located on the roof that will allow both its energy self-sufficiency and that of the three electric car recharging points that will be located inside.

Likewise, it will be completed with the placement of 10 recharging anchors for bicycles and as many for electric scooters. Depending on its feasibility, the implementation of a public bicycle rental system is also contemplated.
