The Official Gazette of the Province (bop) has published the list with the 173 citizen, neighborhood and social associations and entities of The lagoon that the City Council will deregister the Citizen Participation area from the municipal registry, after the deadline granted to them, in accordance with the law, to present the documentation required to maintain the validity of their registration in said registry and not having done so, in the framework of the process of updating the census that the Participation area has initiated.

However, these 173 associations and entities still have one more opportunity since, after their publication in the BOP, a period of one month is opened for them to present an appeal and the necessary documentation. This was explained by Jordi Bercedo, technical director of the Economic and Social Forum, who has worked together with the technicians of the Citizen Participation area in updating said census, and who stressed that from said council it is trying “at all times to facilitate the maximum management and paperwork”.

Jordi Bercedo recalled that this process began because “the Economic and Social Forum is currently renewing its members, and when the issue of associations came up, it was detected that the census had some deficiencies that had to be corrected”. In fact, he points out that he believes that the census had not been updated “for more than ten years”, so with this work “a real photograph of the associative movement of La Laguna” will be achieved, since they have been meeting many cases of associations that today no longer exist or are not in operation.

Thus, after a first period of public exposure that was opened until March 31, in which all the associations of the municipality were obliged to present documentation, a total of 269 were recorded to be removed from the registry, since they did not They had completed the procedures to maintain their registration.

“So we opened an extraordinary deadline, and with the telephone numbers and emails that we had, we got in touch with those 269, and we managed to regularize 96,” said the technical director of the Forum, including “many associations, especially those of the elderly, because they didn’t know how to do it or how to deal with the computers, we stayed with them and did the paperwork to help them as much as possible”, because “here we don’t want to end the associations, but rather save them”, he emphasized.

After that period, the current number of associations to be discharged is 173 and the term they have to present the appeal is until July 15, with which “we hope to have the final census by the end of July and call the Forum elections to the associations, which we hope will be in September, and the Forum would be definitively constituted”.

In any case, Bercedo recalled that “those who are discharged, if they want to re-register the next day, they have every right like any other association.” It should be remembered that staying out of the municipal register implies that these entities cannot “request subsidies, participate in the Plenary or request a location, that is, they lose all ties with the City Council,” he pointed out.
