The fencing off of public spaces, the setting up of the stages and the start-up of the fair are the most direct signs that the Carnival in the street is drawing near. Tomorrow, the fair of the Carnival It will open its doors in its traditional location, on the lot in front of the Tram Interchange stop, and it will remain open until next Sunday, June 26, the last day of Carnival.

On this occasion, given the dates on which the Chicharrero Carnival is celebrated, the fair has smaller dimensions, since the stallholders who visit Santa Cruz every year from the Peninsula, this year have not been able to move because they are in full season of popular festivals in mainland Spain.

In any case, the chicharrera fair will have fifteen attractions, including trampolines, mechanical rodeo bulls, the traditional crazy pigs, the witch train, the grasshopper or jamping.

As going to the fair usually arouses the hunger of adults and children, around twenty businesses are also part of it, where you can enjoy hamburgers, paponas, churros, popcorn or various sweets. There will also be stalls selling toys for the little ones.

Tomorrow, the fair will open from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., while on Saturday and Sunday the hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. From Monday to Wednesday of next week, the hours will be from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m., while the first day of Carnival in the street, Thursday 23rd, will open from 5:30 p.m. to 03:00 a.m. Already on Friday 24, the opening hours will be from 17:30 to 05:00, and on Saturday 25, from 12:00 to 06:00. On the last day, Sunday 26, it will open at 12:00 p.m. and will say goodbye at 00:00 p.m.

For the Councilor for Festivities of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Alfonso Cabello, “the restaurant, leisure and hotel industry have gone through very delicate times, and this opportunity, with reduced rates (more than 40% has been lowered the occupancy rate), supposes a municipal effort that will allow promoting participation”. The mayor stresses that “this initiative democratizes the participation of our entrepreneurs and freelancers in the economic engine of Carnival, in addition to promoting job creation.”

The mayor adds that this fair also has an emotional aspect, since “who does not have memories of going to the fair, to enjoy the attractions, puppies, paponas or the raffle with the family?” “It is one more leisure opportunity in two historic weekends for the capital,” said Cabello.
