Fepeco and Coalition agree on “reactivating the great works of the Island”

The Provincial Federation of Construction Entities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Fepeco) and CC in the Cabildo agree on “the need to promote the large pending works to reactivate the Island.” The nationalist formation held a meeting at the headquarters of the sector’s employers’ association to analyze the current situation

The meeting addressed issues such as road works that are currently being carried out “and come from the previous mandate”, such as the burying of the TF-24 (La Esperanza highway), the Padre Anchieta footbridge and the resurfacing of the TF-1 and TF-5 motorways. Regarding the Autopista del Norte, the group’s spokesman, Carlos Alonso, recalled that there was a consensus among all the political forces to extend the third lane to Guamasa, execute three roundabouts and build the BUS-VAO lane to La Orotava, but, he values, « The Bypass has been chosen –which is the first phase of the Vía Exterior–, a very complex project that will not solve the traffic problem».

Other issues addressed in this meeting were those related to the need to promote the rehabilitation of homes, the introduction of gas, the construction of the new Tenerife Sur Airport terminal – whose works are scheduled to start from 2026 – and the maritime and air connectivity.

The working meeting was attended by the nationalist advisers Carlos Alonso, Félix Fariña and Carmen Delia Alberto, who were received by the president of Fepeco, Óscar Izquierdo, who was accompanied by several members of its board of directors.

During the meeting, it was emphasized need to promote the works to reactivate the economy and generate employment. Alonso explained that the Cabildo had a planning designed through the Strategic Framework for Insular Development (MEDI) with five axes and 36 programs that were articulated with Fdcan funds and some 200 million euros of own resources. The MEDI was agreed upon with the city councils and was a ten-year program, “but it is not being executed,” he concluded.

Fepeco and CC converge on the idea of reactivating the economy and employment in Tenerife through the large pending works.
