The José Juan Navarro Batista Olympic pavilion, in Arucas, recently hosted the first edition of the Ni+Ni-Equals adapted futsal tournament. Promoted by CD Inclúyete, the event was attended by Tenerife Iberia Toscal and CD ADDIN teams from Tenerife, and Arucas CF I+I, Interisleta FS and the host club from Gran Canaria.
Endorsed by the two editions of the basketball tournament, held in 2019 and 2021, the ball, this time futsal, once again highlighted adapted sports, the inclusion and integration of athletes with intellectual disabilities, who gave themselves to the maximum on the game track.
Coinciding with the Sanjuaneras that take place during this month in the northern municipality, this non-competitive and coexistence initiative promoted by Inclúyete was possible thanks to the support of the DISA Foundation, as part of its Capacitas program, and the Department of Sports of the Hon. . Arucas Town Hall.
The presentation of the teams opened the fun and friendly day in which six games were held, where Inclúyete paid tribute to the career of the outstanding former futsal player and coach, Carmen Delia Morales Suárez, before closing the first edition with the awarding of medals to each of the protagonists and a souvenir present to the represented clubs. José María González, local councilor for Sports, Francisco González, representing the DISA Foundation, Nidelia Rodríguez, president of Inclúyete, as well as Rafael Segura and Patricia Mendoza, members of the Municipal Corporation, were in charge of congratulating the protagonists of this appointment that ended with the best of results: camaraderie and inclusion.
Integration
A new step forward for Inclúyete, a non-profit sports club from Aragon born in 2015, made up of volunteers and part of the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities (FEDDI), which continues to develop its Ni+Ni-Iguales program through the that promotes the inclusion and integration of people with disabilities, facilitating access to sport, promoting cooperation between colleagues and groups with friendship as a flag, the desire to excel and making visible the abilities and talent of athletes who break down barriers on a daily basis. This futsal tournament expands the club’s intense agenda and reinforces its philosophy of educating in values and equality with sport as a tool.
