The Spanish technology Glovo presents a report on the consumption of Spanish gastronomy at home. The GastroEspaña Barometer lists the traditional recipes most consumed by Glovo users in the almost 400 cities in the country where the app is available.

The study shows that Santa Cruz of Tenerifewith almost 18,000 units, is the province with the highest number of tortilla home orders in the national territory, ahead of Gipuzkoa.

By establishments, the restaurant the garrigue heads the ranking and curiously, the most requested dish has been the tortilla sandwich, in its case chacina, representing 57% of home orders for this dish on the island. Closely followed by the Bodeguita Canaria, a restaurant specializing in traditional Canarian food and located in the center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In 2021 alone at La Bodeguita Canaria, more than 900 units of potato omelette with onion were ordered at home. Also noteworthy is its “Esto qué es” omelette, made with mojo picón and gofio, typical Canarian ingredients.

Another of the favorite dishes in the Canary Islands is the squid sandwich. By provinces, Las Palmas occupies the third position behind Valladolid and Zaragoza. Bar Kojak, a family business founded in 1975 and specialized in traditional food, is the favorite of the Canarians to order this sandwich at home.

In this sense, Jesús López Gragera, Regional Director of Glovo for the South of Spain, highlights: “Gastronomy is one of the main assets of our country. Each region, city and town has its specialty and favorite food. At Glovo we work so that more and more restaurants and establishments can join the delivery sector and that users can enjoy all these options in their locality”.

Currently, Glovo operates in 21 cities and towns in the Canary Islands and collaborates with almost 2,500 establishments, most of them small businesses, that are committed to delivery in order to digitize and boost their activity.
