The Tenerife tram begins to operate next week with the winter schedule and due to the increase in the number of passengers, the frequency of the regular Metrotenerife service increases.

Thus, on weekdays, from Monday to Friday, the trams will run every five minutes on Line 1, and every ten minutes on Line 2.

In this sense, the first vice president and insular counselor for Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, pointed out in a note that “these frequencies will be maintained from 07:00 to 15:00, coinciding with the periods with the greatest number of trips in the metropolitan area, and the capacity in the tram remains limited to 50%, in accordance with the Canary Islands Government guidelines for level 3 coronavirus alert ”.

For his part, the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, added that “in the evening hours, the trams will operate with a frequency of one every six, 12 and 15 minutes, depending on the time section, until the end of the services at midnight ”.

He also recalled that the weekend hours remain as they have been until now, so the uninterrupted night service for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays will remain suspended, following the recommendations of the competent authorities.

In this way, all travelers are reminded that the use of a mask is mandatory in public transport and Metrotenerife appeals to individual responsibility to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Users can find out about the new frequencies for winter time on the Metrotenerife website, https://metrotenerife.com/recorridos-y-horarios-3/, on their social networks -Facebook and Twitter (@tranviatenerife) – and on the app, which reports in real time the occupancy percentage of each vehicle.

Likewise, the guided transport operator will continue to implement daily cleaning and disinfection protocols in trams and stops, in addition to other covid-19 prevention measures, such as the renewal of air in trams every three minutes and the automatic opening of their doors in all stops on the line.
