Calle Fernando López, in Adeje, symbolizes the progress of the businessman with the municipality

Fernando López was grateful to a municipality with which he has written a page of common progress for more than 30 years. With the inauguration of the street with the name of the Canarian businessman, the Adeje City Council recognizes his career for contributing to the development of the tourist activity of the municipality. His link with the city has meant 300 million in investment and more than a thousand jobs.

The Honorary President and founder of Grupo Fedola, Fernando López, already has a street in Adeje, the municipality in which he has created most of his business activity. In an emotional act organized by the City Council of Adeje, the businessman from Tacoronte received recognition for a successful career, which at the same time, has contributed to the development of Costa Adeje as one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain.

During the act, a plaque with the name of the businessman who was accompanied by the mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, was unveiled. Fernando López had words of thanks to the entire Adeje corporation present for making this recognition possible: “Thanks to the mayor and the entire corporation because the Fedola Group has built its greatest heritage in Adeje, for the good services that have led it to be the best tourist area of the Canary Islands, of Spain and I would dare to say of Europe”. He also dedicated the tribute in a special way to his family present at the event, as well as to the representatives of the more than one thousand two hundred employees of Grupo Fedola.

For his part, the mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodriguez Fraga, highlighted the symbolic value of a tribute event from the town of Villa to a businessman “who represents a fighting generation that has grown from nothing and has incorporated new models tourism growth”, highlighted the mayor. The inauguration of the new street also had the presence and support of the president of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Pedro Martín.

As a family representative, Francisco Calzadilla López, grandson of the businessman, thanked the cultural legacy based on the effort and credibility that is now forever reflected in the city street map and that is located in the Costa Adeje area, right in front by GF Victoria.

A story of common progress

The success story between Adeje and Fernando López began to be written in the mid-1980s when, still together with his brother Domingo, they built the first tourist complexes. It was with the turn of the century when the other hotels and commercial brands arrived, and after the friendly separation of his brother, the businessman completed his career with the opening of a five-star Grand Luxury hotel, the GF Victoria, in 2018 .

Before his arrival in the south of Tenerife, the honored businessman already demonstrated an innate sense for business in Tacoronte, his hometown. In the fifties and from a humble family, Fernando López began to make his way in the exchange of agricultural products for construction material. Thus he was working his first steps with a hardware store, then as a potato until he grew up in the world of tourism as a hotelier.

His legacy, after more than six decades of success, is credibility, a value that the Fedola Group maintains today as a Canarian family business and that is already managed by the second generation of the family chaired by one of his daughters, Victoria López. With a workforce that exceeds one thousand two hundred workers spread over 17 companies, the Fedola Group has recorded continuous and sustainable growth in both profits and job creation.
