SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 11. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Ruth González Martín, representing the Añaza Carrefour Shopping Center with a design by Santi Castro entitled ‘Look at me!!’, has been proclaimed Queen of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival.

The rest of the court is made up of Yanira Morales Plasencia, who represents the Alcampo La Laguna Shopping Center with the fantasy of ‘Sedomir, Together with Me’, First Lady of Honor; Jennifer María García García, representing Malidente SLU, with the fantasy ‘Volver a Soñar’, designed by Asociación Nira, Second Maid of Honor; Marta González Pérez, who represents McDonald’s and El Día-La Opinión de Tenerife, with a fantasy by Daniel Pages called ‘El Cielo de Fondo’ as Third Maid of Honor, and Tania Pérez de la Rosa, representing El Gusto Por el Vino and Dormitorum SL with the fantasy ‘La Monarca’ by Juan Carlos Armas, as Fourth Maid of Honour.

The jury that ruled, in addition to the votes of the public, was made up of Agatha Ruíz de la Prada, fashion designer; Elvira Piedra Vera, illustrator and promoter of culture and art history; Carlos Santos, set designer for Carnival 2022; María Eizaguirre, director of communication and participation of TVE; Sofía Nieto and Arantxa Rodrigalvarez, creators of the Carmen17 brand; and Patricia Hodgson, a fine arts graduate, painter, and curator.

The second table, of guests, was made up of Marta González de Vega, screenwriter of the saga ‘Padre no hay más que uno’ and actress; Emma Lira, author of ‘Look for me where dragon trees are born’ and journalist for National Geographic; Emilia González, presenter of Canarian Television; Yoné Rivero, senior manager of BMG Iberia; Conchita, singer and songwriter, and Pablo Cebrián, music producer and songwriter.

Acting as secretary of the Autonomous Party Organization was María Vidal Conesa and Beatriz Cabello Mestres as notary. Representing the designers of the carnival, with voice but without vote, were Fran Romero and Antonio Santos.

The preshow began with the intervention of Abubukaka and Darío López, who warmed up the atmosphere until the moment the show began, broadcast on Canarian Television and the international channel of Spanish Television.

The gala began with a vibrant opening on three stages, performed by Argel Campos, Míriam Reyes, David Afonso, Cristian, Noemí Reverón, Sara Almeida, Andrea Rodríguez and Wycho Torres and accompanied by the Gala ballet. The spectacular costumes inspired by space science fiction, by Leo Martínez dressed the group that sang to return to normality, to the recovery of dreams, and to Carnival.

Among the public, members of the comparsas, musical groups, murgas, rondallas and Carnival characters, causing a feeling of carnival immersion, which was maintained throughout the gala in which one stage after another took place, and even the use of the corridors between seats to offer those present all the Carnival that they have not been able to have in the last two years. Twenty of the women who have been queens since the 1980s also came out on stage, sheltered by the applause of the public.

The introduction to the rest of the Gala, after the opening, was led by Alexis Hernández and Laura Afonso, followed by the three groups of candidates, presented consecutively by some of the presenters who covered information about the volcano, Magaly Cáceres, Antonio Hernández , Javier Rodríguez, Puchi Méndez, Fran Peraza and Raquel Falcón.

The culmination, the long-awaited performance by Chanel that surprised with a new version of ‘SloMo’, which began with her in a glass cage, which stood out thanks to the lighting work carried out by Juanjo Beloqui. To the rhythm of batucada, with the comparsas doing the paseillo, Chanel accessed the revolving stage where, shouting “Tenerife, are you ready?” She inflamed the public present at the Fairgrounds in a performance in which she was accompanied not only by her dance corps, but also by the Gala ballet and a wide representation of the Carnival troupes dancing to the rhythm of SloMo . At the end, with the audience on their feet totally dedicated singing “This really is a piece of artist”, the interpreter sang a short acapella encore.
