The counselor of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary IslandsJosé Antonio Valbuena, has advocated for audiovisual filming to be authorized on El Teide “selectively” and not 365 days a year.

José Antonio Valbuena, in statements to the media, has defended a plan that guarantees the protection of the Teide National Park.

Likewise, he has been in favor of El Teide not becoming the Arizona desert in the filming, but rather representing it as it is.

Extension of the public exhibition period for the Teide National Park use and management plan

The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands has decided to extend the deadline for public display of the draft Master Plan for the Use and Management of the Teide National Park until July 22.

The official publication of this modification will be made in the coming days through the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Counselor José Antonio Valbuena explains in a statement that the reason for this extension is so that the process has the greatest number of possible contributions “to enrich the text and that all groups feel reflected in the final version that is approved” .

As in the Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition, “the most participatory in the history of the Canary Islands”, in the plan for the use and management of the Teide National Park, the mandatory processes of public exposure have been complemented with specific meetings with groups , entities and public bodies that have an interest in this process.

The counselor also points out that another of the reasons that has led to this modification of the deadline is that some contributions already collected require “a deeper analysis” before their inclusion.

“We want to listen to all the sectors involved and reach the greatest possible consensus, without neglecting the objective of conserving and preserving one of the most privileged natural spaces in the Canary Islands,” Valbuena underlines.

The counselor emphasizes that the Government of the Canary Islands has defended the principle of transparency and real participation in “the numerous documents” that have been drafted in this legislature and this plan “is not going to be an exception”.

For this reason, it encourages citizens and all public and private entities to continue participating in this procedure and to consult the initial draft at the link https://www.gobiernodecanarias.org/medioambiente/temas/parques_nacionales_canarios/#_self (in the Use and Management Guiding Plans section).

The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands recalls that observations and suggestions can be made in person at the registry offices of the Government of the Canary Islands, in the registries regulated by article 16.4 of the LPACAP or in the electronic office.
