The City Council of La Laguna will create a viewpoint in the Salud Alto-El Rocío neighborhood, which will allow you to enjoy exceptional views over the landscape of the Santos ravine. The intervention will take place on a previously unused plot of about 200 square metres, and includes an investment of 62,000 euros.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the Councilor for Works and Infrastructure, Josimar Hernández, visited the place this Thursday accompanied by the president of the Alto-El Rocío Health Association, Leonardo García Gómez. The recovery of this plot was a claim that had been transferred to the mayor in previous visits to the area, both by the Association and by different neighborhood groups, who requested the creation of a viewpoint.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez assures that “this intervention contributes to revalue an area of the neighborhood that was degraded and in disuse. The Government of La Laguna has a firm commitment to the recovery of public spaces to promote citizen coexistence. In this case, in addition, this action comes to bring the residents of Salud Alto-El Rocío closer to their natural environment and the environmental values that the Santos ravine brings together”.
In similar terms, Josimar Hernández has expressed himself, who recalls that from the Department of Works and Infrastructure “the integral improvement of public recreation areas has been one of the priorities of the area during this mandate”, and points out that the creation of this viewpoint “offers the possibility of enjoying unbeatable views over the landscape of the Santos ravine”.
The new space is located at one end of Rector José Escobedo and González Alberu streets. The project, which has been drafted by the technical staff of the Works and Infrastructures area, includes the paving of the plot and the comprehensive reform of the space, with the improvement of accessibility and the placement of railings at the end of the Santos ravine to reinforce security.
Likewise, the area will be equipped with urban furniture such as benches and litter bins, and tree pits will be outlined around the existing palm tree specimens on the plot, to guarantee their protection.
