The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands has decided to extend the public exhibition period of the draft of the Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG) of the Teide National Park until next July 22. The official publication of this modification will be made in the coming days through the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands. Until now, only allegations could be submitted until the 5th of next month.

The Regional Minister, José Antonio Valbuena, underlines the fact that it is still an initial document and that the objective is for this process to have as many contributions as possible “to enrich the text and for all groups to feel reflected in the final version that is submitted for approval.

“As happened with the Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition, the most participatory in the history of the Canary Islands, we have complemented the processes of public exposure through specific meetings with groups, entities and public bodies that have an interest in this process” , Add.

The counselor also points out that another of the reasons that has led to this modification of the deadline is that some contributions already collected require a more in-depth analysis before their inclusion, for which “we want to listen to all the sectors involved and reach the greatest possible consensus », without neglecting the objective of «conserving and preserving the natural space».

José Antonio Valbuena emphasizes that this Government “has defended the principle of transparency and real participation” in the “numerous” documents drafted in this legislature and the PRUG of the Teide National Park is not going to be an exception.

“I encourage citizens and all public and private entities,” says Valbuena, “to continue participating in this procedure and to consult the initial draft at the link www.gobiernodecanarias.org/medioambiente/temas/parques_nacionales_canarios (in the section Master Plans for Use and Management).
