The expectation raised by the arrival of Chanel to Tenerife to participate tomorrow in the Santa Cruz Carnival Queen Election Gala, after her success in Eurovision, equates her to great stars that have preceded her. Two years late, tomorrow the Gala promises to be the turning point of a party which is emerging as one of the most massive in memory. In this context, Chanel is the highlight of a show that each year seeks the definitive model that brings together Carnival groups and the public, so the performance of the artist of the moment in Spain will undoubtedly mark the future of the Gala, and will do so on a stage that the artist herself recognized when she saw it “is wider than the one in Turin”, in reference to her performance at Eurovision.

Chanel and her dance team, led by choreographer Kyle Hanagami, landed on the Island on Tuesday and that same afternoon they went to the Fairgrounds to begin rehearsals, which shows their professionalism, since the tiredness of the hours aircraft did not seem to make a dent, given the energy with which they faced the test.

On the stage that will host her tomorrow, starting at 9:00 p.m., the Gala dance team was waiting for her, along with its director, Juan Manzano; his assistant, Patricia López; the artistic director of the Gala, Enrique Camacho, and a small group of people who will participate in the Gala for the Election of the Carnival Queen tomorrow.

Those attending that first rehearsal say that it is a privilege to observe how a choreography like SloMo’s is prepared and discover the tremendous strength and professionalism of Chanel Terrero and her dancers on stage.

Neither the hours of travel that the choreographer had behind him, nor the hours of the plane that the Chanel team brought with him could not cope with the team. They all went punctually to their appointment on the stage of the Fairgrounds to carry out more than two hours of rehearsal. If someone expects to see the choreography that Chanel and her dancers put together for Eurovision, that’s not going to happen. It is a different show that the spectators of the Gala, both at the Fairgrounds and at home, will be able to enjoy for the first time. What the first rehearsal showed was a cohesive group, very well matched both in professional and personal aspects and with the clear objective of giving everything possible and more for the Queen’s Election Gala.

Not only will the stage play an essential role in the proposal that will be offered tomorrow, but the lighting and effects program planned by technician Juanjo Beloqui will be an essential part of the show that will be offered while the public votes for their favorite candidate.

From the City Council of Santa Cruz they assure that the proposal prepared by the artistic direction team of the Carnival has been very well received by the artist and her group.

Anaga

Chanel and her team showed yesterday, on their social networks, that they are working in Tenerife. Her dancers showed some of the activities they carried out during the morning, such as the visit to the black sand beaches of Anaga. On Josh Huerta’s Instagram, but also on Raquel Caurin’s, or on Exon Arcos’s, you could see snapshots of the beach day they enjoyed, also a funny Chanel showing off freckles accentuated by the sun of the Islands, history that she herself shared on her Instagram. In the afternoon she played a new rehearsal at the Fairgrounds, where, once again, they showed signs of her professionalism and good work.

Today, at the Iberostar Grand Mencey hotel, the press conference to present the Gala for the Election of the Carnival Queen will take place, a meeting in which the artist and choreographer Kyle Hanagami will be present, as well as the artistic director of the Gala, Henry Camacho.

chanell

Born in Havana, when she was three years old her family moved to Spain. From the age of nine she received singing and acting classes, and ballet classes according to the system of the Royal Academy Of Dance. At the age of 16 she began to take her first steps in the world of musical theater. Chanel moved to Madrid to start her acting career and she became known throughout the 2010s participating in different musicals, including Mamma Mia!, Flashdance, The Bodyguard and The Lion King 4.

Everything that has to do with his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest is now history. He obtained third place with 459 votes (231 from the jury and 228 from the televote), for which he broke the record for points in Spain in the contest, and placed in the best position in the country since the 1995 edition. In addition, he beat another national brand in Eurovision, by achieving nine maximum scores: eight from the jury and one from the Greek televote.

With her performance in Tenerife, Chanel kicks off her long-awaited tour of different parts of the country. The singer confirmed a few days ago in an interview that she has already recorded eight songs for what will be her first album after the success of Eurovision, and that, although not confirmed, it seems that Agua could be her title. But the artist is not for her and she will also participate in Nacho Cano’s new musical, Malinche, where she will play the lead.

Kyle Hanagami

The choreography that can be seen on the Fairgrounds stage will be directed by Kyle Hanagami, a Los Angeles-based choreographer and creative director who has become one of the most sought-after talents in the industry. He has choreographed for artists such as Black Pink, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, CNCO, Justin Bieber, and NSync, and for advertisements for world-renowned brands such as Nike, Disney, and Calvin Klein. It features numerous viral dance videos and holds the title of YouTube’s most viewed choreography video of all time.

Hanagami has become the bridge between the entertainment industry and the digital world, creating captivating choreography that can be recognized everywhere.

local talent

Tomorrow’s Gala will not only feature the talent of the Chanel team and the artist herself, but also local talent represented by the choreographer Juan Manzano, who is in charge of the team of dancers who will perform at the Gala. In addition, the comparsas will support the singer during part of her performance, so the moment Chanel appears on stage there will be a mix of roots that is expected to be a very exciting moment.

In the case of choreographer Juan Manzano, although he was born in Sweden, he has Canarian and Ecuadorian roots. He graduated from the National School of Art in Havana, Cuba. In his resume he can boast of having participated in four carnival galas, choreographing more than 700 people per gala. Although his curriculum includes numerous musicals, movies and a multitude of dance choreographies of various styles, this May he returned to the Fairgrounds to direct the joint performance of the comparsas and the ballet of the Gala de la Reina, whose body of dance is made up of nine dancers selected in a casting with artists from the Islands.
