The Department of Public Services has completed the communication that it has been making to the public car parks of Santa Cruz, which must regularize their rates as they do not comply with what is included in the specifications that allowed their award. The last car park on the list is the Plaza de España, currently managed by Interparking Hispania, which has been given a month to comply with the price drop estimated by the City Council to be applied, since its rates are 38% higher than it should. Specifically, the area, which is led by the PP councilor Carlos Tarife, has ordered that the price of parking per hour be lowered from the current 2.1 euros to 1.5, which is what it should be charging.
The formula to know exactly how much should be charged is included in the award documents, so the City Council clarifies that the amounts established are not something arbitrary.
As for the canon, the other variable of the award, which has also been reviewed by Public Services, the Plaza España car park must pay the City Council just over 20,000 euros to update that canon from 2018 to the present, since They are the only years that have not prescribed.
The amount that is owed comes from the differences with what should have been paid annually and what was actually paid, so that around 2,000 euros less per year had been paid than what was established according to the specifications. For this year, in addition, a canon of 7,960 euros is set, which is adjusted to the new price estimated by the City Council.
With this last car park, Public Services ends the communication of the irregularities detected in seven car parks in the city, whose concessions took place more than 20 years ago in many of the cases, in which, in addition, it is observed how the successful bidders The original companies subrogated their contracts to other companies, which are the ones that now manage these public parking lots.
Most of the irregularities were corrected after the first study carried out in 2017, but not the rates, which was what led to a second personalized study of each of the public car parks, with said report stating that all of them had raised their prices without the required authorization. of the City Council, for which reason they are now considered to be irregular.
Tarife has already warned that, although all the concessionaires are presenting allegations to this imposition of the Consistory, finally, if the order given by Public Services to adjust their rates is not complied with, it will go to a contentious-administrative so that a judge is the one who dictate what rate should be applied.
The car parks that have been informed that they must lower their rates and update the fee they pay to the City Council are those of Tomé Cano, Weyler, Estadio, Puente Serrador, El Pilar, Ramón y Cajal, in addition to the Plaza de España
