SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 6. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has hosted the presentation of the International Culture & Business Pride Festival, an event dedicated to the LGTBIQ+ community that will be held from June 11 to 17 in the capital of Tenerife, which in its fifth edition will offer the public more than fifty cultural activities and of free and accessible business, and that will convene more than a hundred personalities from all over the world.

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín; the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, and the director of the Festival, Olga Payar, have announced the program for this event.

Pedro Martín highlighted “the importance of hosting this festival on the island, whose programming will give the world the opportunity to open up a space on diversity and the achievements of the LGTBIQ+ collective”, and added that the event “will contribute to promoting our tourist attraction and will also favor a space for coexistence and citizen participation”.

“Apart from generating a lot of activity on the island and in the capital of Tenerife, which has the opportunity to celebrate a fantastic carnival this June, but also to experience this celebration of diversity in an absolutely unique, different and very enriching way. Hopefully that this edition apart from being a magnificent success, help us to continue claiming the good, the wonderful and the fantastic of the diversity of the human being”, emphasized the president.

For the mayor of Santa Cruz, “the celebration of the Festival affects two aspects on which we are working firmly. The first, regarding the need to convey to citizens messages related to diversity, freedom and the need to generate spaces for debate to continue building a more just and egalitarian society, and the other aspect that this festival affects is the objective of this capital that things happen in its streets, that the offer of activity is unique and continuous, as formula to generate job opportunities and wealth in the city”.

On behalf of the organization, Olga Payar indicated that “it is one of the most important prides in the world that throughout its last editions has earned an impeccable international reputation, being taken as a reference platform to publicize all the work that is being developed by the LGTBIQ+ collective”. The director of the event pointed out that “it not only hosts the party and celebration, but also business and culture, highlighting the global personalities of the group.”

The presentation was also attended by the island director of Tourism, Laura Castro, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, together with the councilors of the Santa Cruz City Council, Gladys de León, Alfonso Cabello and Purificación Dávila.
