The Municipality of El Rosario held its session for the month of June on Thursday. It also did so with the return to normality, after two years, in the arrangement of the councilors in the plenary arch, the possibility of public attendance and the presence of sign interpreters to facilitate the group of people with disabilities listening to the plenary debates. Among the points that came forward, the one aimed at the denomination of the transversal street to Elías Bacallado Hernández as Los Sabandeños and for the granting of an honorary distinction to the El Rosario Civil Protection Volunteer Group, a volunteer body that celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Both the mayor of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, and the spokesperson for IR-Greens and instructor of the honors file, Sara Cabello, praised the figure of the mythical group Los Sabandeños“closely linked to the municipality of El Rosario and especially to the town of La Esperanza, both in the origins of the group, of which the group of Esperanto musicians Los Torres were a part, and in the promotion of the Esperance blanket, making this garment of shelter in an identifying element of Canarian folklore, ”they indicated from the Consistory in a note.
Of the four motions presented, three were approved and one was withdrawn by the proponent group. The latter was the proposal of the socialist group to study the improvement of accessibility to the wake of La Esperanza. The proposals of the PSOE were unanimously approved to promote the collaboration of the City Council in the support networks for the LGTBI community and awareness against hate crimes and support for victims of LGTBI-phobia, as well as that of the PP for the implementation of the Bizum platform for the payment of taxes.
The motion of Podemos in support of the Platform for the Canary Sea so that the Islands are recognized “as an archipelago with full rights in the international legal field” also prospered.
