After two years, the guarantors of peace in the Canary Islands return

After two years where unfortunately the pandemic has not allowed the holding of public events, within the framework of the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces (DIFAS) 2022 in the Canary Islands, from May 30 to June 11 on the islands of Tenerife and La Palma has scheduled various activities that will bring citizens closer to the work that the military carries out inside and outside our borders, organized by the Canary Islands Command of the Army and in which the Army, Navy, Air Force will participate , Military Emergency Unit and Civil Guard.

The Day of the Armed Forces dates back to 1978 when it was established to carry out an institutional act that would serve as a tribute to the Armies and the Navy and to promote knowledge and their integration into society. The program of events organized this year on the occasion of DIFAS

It will run under the slogan “1982-2022, 40 years of active participation in NATO” to transfer to civil society the international peace actions and missions carried out by Spain within the Atlantic Alliance since its incorporation into it.

What’s left

Regarding the activities planned in Santa Cruz de Tenerife that remain to be held, it is worth noting, after the celebration yesterday on the Avenida Marítima de Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the solemn raising of the flag and its subsequent lowering, an act that was presided over by the Military Commander of Tenerife and Head of the 5th General Sub-inspection of the Army, as well as the exhibition that took place yesterday of the material of the Armed Forces that took place provided by the FAS Units and the Civil Guard with garrison on the island of Tenerife.

In addition, a Field Artillery Battery carried out the corresponding ordinance salvo to honor the Authority presiding over the act, with all pertinent security measures, as well as paying tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain and delivering a Institutional gift in recognition of the oldest commanding officer in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. A biker concentration is scheduled for today at 10:00 am next to the Tenerife Auditorium.
