As if it were an omen, in 2020, the Santa Cruz Carnival he said goodbye enveloped in a haze so dense that it was even about to cause his suspension. Just a few days later, a global pandemic was declared, the consequences of which are still being felt. A Carnival that in 2021 it was celebrated on the screens, but not on the street. A party that in 2022 was seen again with the restrictions on the neck, without being able to catch his breath. And June appeared on the horizon. For the first time in the history of the chicharrera festival, Carnival would be celebrated outside of the Christian liturgy that marks its beginning just before Lent. Finally, today, June 3, Santa Cruz welcomes its Carnival again, in all its extension, with galas, contests and street parties, but, above all, with people, many people.
Tonight, at 9:30 p.m., the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds hosts the inaugural Gala of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2022. In it, the 30 candidates who aspire to become Queen of the party in the different categories will know the order of participation in their respective galas. Everything is ready to enjoy a stage that, in the words of the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, “is going to offer an immersive experience both to the public that lives it live, and to those who follow it through Canarian Television”.
And it is that the lighting of the stage, totally integrated in the scenography, with 276 moving spotlights, 130 effects devices, remote-controlled tracking cannons and six laser machines, is the true protagonist of a stage that, last night, DIARIO DE AVISOS was able to access and see what the gala attendees will be able to enjoy today.
There will be 1,200 seats available to an audience that will access the seats by means of an invitation that can be withdrawn one hour before the opening of doors at the Fairgrounds box office, until capacity is reached. Access will open from 8:30 p.m., so invitations can be withdrawn from 7:30 p.m.
Elvis Sanfiel will be in charge of conducting this first date of the Science Fiction Carnival, which will last just over an hour. To animate this gala, the guardians of the Scepter, the three current queens, the comparsas, murgas, Carnival characters and artists known to the general public such as Miriam Reyes, Anaé or Pepe Benavente and artistic revelations such as Jess Martin will participate.
Under the direction of Enrique Camacho, the act will be broadcast live through Canarian Television for the entire Archipelago, but the public and the national and international media will have the option of having photographs of this event and of all those that take place in the Fairground, as well as those that happen once the Carnival hits the streets, thanks to the agreement reached by Oafar with the company
I Love the World.
There will be ten people who will make up, in the most intense moments, the team of photographers of the Canarian company that reached very high levels of popularity when it carried out an altruistic job of informing the population through 360 photographs of the areas affected by the eruption of the volcano of La Palma and obtained unpublished snapshots that toured the world at the same time for its crudeness and the artistic and technical beauty of its execution. In addition, they have worked in places such as the Philippines, Mexico, Egypt, Holy Week in Malaga or for Binter Canarias in all their international destinations.
