Miguel Ángel Ramírez, president of UD Las Palmas, will not be in Tenerife today to witness the first leg of the promotion playoff semifinals between CD Tenerife and the yellow team from the Heliodoro Rodríguez López box. Thus, Nicolás Ortega, the vice president, will lead the expedition that will leave after noon for the neighboring island, as has happened in almost the vast majority of away games throughout the season.
UD’s top manager was in Miami for the last few days and had no plans to attend a possible first leg of the promotion away from home this Wednesday. Instead, it will be on Saturday at the Gran Canaria Stadium.
Thus, on this occasion, the traditional president’s lunch between Miguel Ángel Ramírez and Miguel Concepción, his counterpart from the blue and white club, will not be held. It should be remembered that last January 2, in the first game of the year and the second round, it did take place as tradition dictates both in Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
