The space for cattle fairs that the Los Realejos Town Hall build in The Chestnut Cross it will adapt its aesthetics to the agricultural environment that surrounds it, according to the municipal government (PP). Mayor, Manuel Dominguez, yesterday made a visit to the plot of 5,342 square meters where the project is running, budgeted at 197,776 euros, and stressed that the initiative respects the traditional and rural image of this mid-range area.

The municipal architect and responsible for the drafting of the project Light of the Angels Oramas He presented it last March to a group of neighbors linked to La Cruz del Castaño, accompanied by the mayor; the councilor for Urbanism, Laura Lima, and the area councilors of District VI of the locality, Domingo García and José David Cabrera. “In that meeting, the initiative had the approval of the neighborhood,” according to the local government.

The plot was recently acquired by the City Council with the commitment to create a livestock fair space and other multipurpose uses, as demanded in the area. For Manuel Dominguez, «This project represents one of the greatest wishes of the population of the midlands of Los RealejosAn initiative that will allow to maintain the tradition, custom and that special feeling for such deeply rooted celebrations, that hopefully sooner rather than later they can be celebrated again as we used to ».

It will occupy a plot of 5,342 square meters

Laura Lima insists that “from the Municipal Management of Urbanism We made efforts to give the green light to this commitment of the government group with the residents of the area, a responsibility that we assumed as a challenge and that saw the light months ago in the form of a project and in this same week materialized at the beginning of the work initially delimiting the areas in which different retaining walls will be arranged ”.

«The project, supported by the neighborhood petition itself, has as a premise the minimum impact and maximum respect for the agricultural environment of special significance in which the aforementioned plot is located, a place with a deep-rooted festive tradition every first weekend in September , where homage is paid to the work of the primary sector and ancestral trades», Adds Lima.

Given that the plot has a significant unevenness, a distribution in terraces has been projected to create spaces for the livestock exhibition by groups of animals, an area for the traditional dragging, space for fair and exhibition stalls and adapted accesses ».

At present we proceed to land clearing and pre-cleaning. It also includes the displacement of a low-tension wooden post, the staking out of the retaining walls and that coincide with the existing slopes to minimize earth movements, the execution of the aforementioned concrete walls to stone face, the compaction of land in the area destined to the cattle drag track, the execution of the hearth in the animal blessing area and the enclosure of the terraces and spaces delimited by groups of animals with wooden railings, handrails and uprights.

The Councilor for Urbanism recalls that a second phase of rehabilitation and improvement of the surroundings of The Chestnut Cross in other plots adjoining that of this intervention.
