SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Salvamento Marítimo has rescued this Monday a boat in which 49 migrants were traveling towards the Canary Islands, as reported by the public body. Adding this last boat, since last Saturday six boats have been rescued with 327 people on board.
On this occasion, the boat was located 60 miles southeast of Gran Canaria. The Maritime Rescue Control Center in Las Palmas mobilized the Guardamar ‘Caliope’, which proceeded to rescue all its occupants (44 men, 4 women and a baby) and is transferring them to the port of Arguineguín, in the Gran Canaria municipality of Mogan.
Of the other five boats that were rescued over the weekend, two were located in the south of Fuerteventura with 130 people of sub-Saharan origin; another was heading to Lanzarote with 53 people on board (34 men, 15 women and 4 children); 38 sub-Saharan migrants arrived in Gran Canaria, including four women and a baby, who came in a pneumatic, and another was intercepted 54 miles from Lanzarote with 58 people, including a baby.
