The next mayor of Los Realejos

Born in November 1974, graduated in Fine Arts from the University of La Laguna, professor of Plastic Arts and Design at the Fernando Estévez Higher School of Art in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, councilor and spokesperson for the PP in the Los Realejos City Council since the year 2007, painter, designer, murguero and traveler. This is the next mayor of Los Realejos: Adolfo González Pérez-Siverio.

On January 23, 2022, the mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Dominguezbecame the new president of the Popular Party in the Canary Islands and the person called to lead the popular candidacy for the regional Presidency. Four months ago it was assumed that the realejero president would have to leave the Mayor’s Office sooner rather than later to focus on his new role as party leader in the eight Canary Islands. The identity of his substitute has been an open secret because, since 2007, Adolfo González Pérez-Siverio was always Domínguez’s right-hand man, his spokesperson and his substitute in opposition tasks and, above all, in government. He will be the next royal mayor.

Adolfo Gonzalez Perez-Siverio He was born in November 1974. The son of Tere and Pedro el de La Carrera, he will always be the Siverio family of furniture. The second of four brothers, he was a rather shy and quiet boy, studious, with good grades and always glued to crayons and markers. He studied at the Casa Azul private school, but finished his studies at the IES Realejos. Art has always been present in his life, from a very young age. He was part of the youth movement of the municipality of Los Realejos, in several youth groups, such as Nenedam, and parish and musical groups, such as the Villa de Los Realejos Choir.

He made art his profession. He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna, specializing in design, and after working at Proyecto Hombre with young drug addicts and spending a year as a teacher at the Pureza de María school, he passed an exam and became an official of the Autonomous community. He is a professor of Plastic Arts and Design at the Fernando Estévez Higher School of Art, which has allowed him to never receive a municipal salary.

He has also been director of the Murga Archibodies for more than a decade and in his artistic facet he treasures numerous individual exhibitions of painting and photography, with various awards as a graphic designer and poster artist. An art and travel lover, he knows a good part of Europe and has traveled to Central America three times.

In 2007, 15 years ago, he became councilor of the Municipality of Los Realejos, where he served as spokesman for the Popular Municipal Group in the opposition mandate that catapulted Manuel Domínguez to the Mayor’s Office in 2011, when the PP went from 6 to 11 councilors and garnered its first absolute majority. Since the first year of Domínguez’s government, Adolfo González has been his spokesperson and first deputy mayor.

Between 2011 and 2015, Adolfo González assumed the first tenure of Mayor and the areas of Personnel, Contracting, Internal Regime, General Services, Culture, Historical Heritage, Public Buildings and Projects and Works. As of 2012, he also took the reins of the Local Committee of the PP in Los Realejos, where he has been the local president for ten years.

In his second term, between 2015 and 2019, also as first deputy mayor, he was responsible for Urban Planning, Housing and Economic Promotion. From 2019 until now, he has continued as number two in the local government and responsible for Institutional Relations, Employment, Commerce, Local Development Agency and Major Projects. In recent months he has replaced Manuel Domínguez on numerous occasions and in the next few days that replacement will finally become official.

A blessed relay

The current mayor of Los Realejos and president of the PP in the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, has made it clear publicly and privately that his replacement at the head of the City Council should be his first deputy mayor since 2011, Adolfo González Pérez-Siverio. Domínguez has shown no doubts about the suitability of his next successor, emphasizing that he has given ample evidence of being able to stand at the head of the Consistory. He has said that it is not only a matter of personal affinity, although they are friends, but of ability and political trajectory. One term in the opposition and three in the real government have convinced Domínguez, who has always considered him his right hand, a substitute at the head of the Corporation who has never failed him.
