It goes no further: derby in the semifinals of the promotion playoff. UD Las Palmas and CD Tenerife face each other in a round-trip tie with the sole objective of qualifying for the final, in which they will face Eibar or Girona, who are on the other side of the draw. A week of infarction is coming up, in which there will be two direct confrontations between the Canarian teams, the first, on Wednesday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López; on Saturday at the Gran Canaria Stadium. Both, at 8:00 p.m., and with the tension through the roof due to how much is at stake.

The yellow entity only took a little over an hour since the end of the Gijón match (0-1) to announce that subscribers will not pay for next weekend’s appointment, but they will have to withdraw their tickets before Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. . The rest must go through the box office, without promotions. The prices for adults are: 25 euros in Curve (10 children), 35 euros in South (12 children), 45 euros in Grandstand (18 children), 55 in Special Grandstand (20 children) and 75 in VIP ( 30 children). There are no tickets for sale in Naciente.

In any case, it will be the second date, because the first will be the day after tomorrow on the neighboring island thanks to the fact that UD finished fourth after completing a spectacular end to the season, the best in its history, in which it managed to score 29 points out of a possible 33 , product of nine victories –the last five, consecutive– and two draws, and that Tenerife and Girona punctured, the first with a defeat at home against Cartagena (1-2) –the third consecutive– and the second with a draw in Burgos (0-0).

There were hardly any variations in terms of pairings on the last day, since the chicharrero team was two goals down very soon and the Catalan seemed to settle for the point in El Plantío to secure his place in the playoff, from which Oviedo was left out despite their victory over Ibiza (3-2).

The defeat of Ramis’ team meant nothing until Jonathan Viera put UD ahead in the 36th minute by converting a penalty committed on Rober. Suddenly, the yellows went on to occupy fourth position, the one that they would only have lost if Tenerife had come back or if Girona had won. Neither one thing nor the other happened, so Las Palmas took as much as possible from the final date, the fourth place that guarantees them to go to the final in the event of a tie at the conclusion of a hypothetical extension.

What did vary somewhat more was the area of direct promotion and third place, in which Valladolid began and Eibar finished. Everything changed when the team from Pucelano took the lead in the second half of their match with Huesca (3-0). As the armory team tied in Alcorcón and Almería lost in Leganés, the Andalusians were third. Even with the equalizer of the southern club (2-2), it was affected in the triple tie, however, a bottom goal in discount time dropped the Basques to third position (1-0).

So the other semifinal of the playoff will be played by Eibar and Girona, first in Montilivi, on Thursday, and then in Ipurua, on Sunday. In all cases of a tie at the conclusion of a possible extension, Gaizka Garitano’s men would come out the winners. If UD eliminated Tenerife, to play the second leg of the final at Gran Canaria the rival would have to be the team led by Míchel.

That would happen, in any case, if Las Palmas continues its trend and leaves the chicharrero team in the gutter. Of the 81 possible combinations of results on matchday 42, 30 of them gave a derby in the semis. One came out. On Wednesday, Tenerife-Las Palmas; on Saturday, Las Palmas-Tenerife. Everything at 8:00 p.m. It doesn’t go anymore.
