The president, Pedro Martín, appreciates the “support” of the parties and maintains that the CC and PP have managed to “amend their mistake”

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Plenary Session of the Cabildo de Tenerife has approved this Friday, with the votes in favor of PSOE, Cs, CC-PNC and PP, and the rejection of Sí Podemos, a credit modification to incorporate 5.1 million of the remaining treasury into the budget of 2022 and thus promote the construction works of the Atogo Motor Circuit.

In addition, motions from the CC-PNC and PP were approved, also with the rejection of Sí Podemos, including the creation of a commission to monitor the works and the guarantee that there will be a multi-year investment of at least 50 million euros.

The president, Pedro Martín, has shown his joy at the “support” for the proposal after the blockade of the last plenary session, stressing that his party has always been “in favor” of the project and that the opposition has tried to “amend a mistake” because of his “tacticism” to try to wear down the insular government

However, he regretted the delay in processing the credit modification because “every day that passes is one day less” to spend the money.

The vice president and spokesman for Cs, Enrique Arriaga, has pointed out that the works are divided into three large blocks for “technical issues” and now this part is being undertaken because the rest of the projects are not yet ready.

He has pointed out that Yes We Can is the “only coherent” in the processing of this project and although the motions do not contribute “nothing new”, he has sealed his support in order to achieve unity around this infrastructure.

Yes, he has valued the change of opinion of CC and PP and that this Friday they have supported the 5.1 million because “the motor world had been thrown at them.”

Carlos Alonso, spokesman for the Nationalist Group, has admitted that the Cabildo will not have the capacity to execute the funds this year but is “confident” that the expense will also be recorded in 2023 together with the multi-year investment.

The nationalists have not been able to push through a package of amendments in which they asked for resources to fight poverty or the purchase of houses on the market to make them available for social rent.

CC SEES “LACK OF TRANSPARENCY”

His partner, Verónica Meseguer, has recounted all the difficulties of the project since it was conceived in 1995 during Adán Martín’s time as president, has accused Martín of “lack of transparency” and “deceit” and remarked that Arriaga only wants to “get gallons and take pictures”.

Likewise, he has indicated that it has been the government team that has changed by separating the proposal from a joint one because they wanted to “impose” their criteria when they have a “weak government.”

Zaida González (PP) has clarified that her group has not changed its vote, but that the Government has changed the proposal in the face of the “dictatorial system” of the past plenary session, which demonstrates the government team’s lack of willingness to negotiate agreements, while He has remarked that his party “has always supported the project”.

PP: THE GOVERNMENT “IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY”

His colleague Valentín González has said that the Government “is not trustworthy” hence it is necessary to create a monitoring commission and guarantee the multi-year plan, asking Martín to open himself to “consensus” and lead the project.

The spokeswoman for Sí Podemos, María José Belda, has defended the “historic” position of the purple coalition against the motor circuit and has highlighted how CC and PP have changed their position “in 23 days” when they asked that this money be dedicated to social games.

In addition, he has said that they have been opposing this project for two terms, which shows that they are not a “crutch” of the government group and has regretted that his amendment to allocate the money to the purchase of housing has been discarded.

David Carballo, also from Sí Podemos, has charged against the “tacticalism” of the opposition by changing the opposition on a project that represents economic “developmentalism” and generates “irreparable damage” for the territory of the island and will be a “business ruinous” because no company is going to bid and the Cabildo will have to bear all the costs.
