SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Aena has appointed Luis López Chapi as director of the Canary Islands Airports Group. Chapí, current director of the Tenerife South Airport, will assume the management of the Group on July 1. Mario Otero, current director of the Canary Islands Airports Group, after eleven years at the helm of this group, has been appointed director of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.

The next director of the group is an aeronautical engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and graduated in Political Science and Administration from the UNED. He has completed the Management Development Program (PDD) at IESE. Since 2019 he is the director of Tenerife South Airport.

Luis López Chapí has ​​developed his professional career in the airport environment, assuming different positions of responsibility, among them, the Management of the Fuerteventura Airport (2016-2019) and the Head of the Cabinet of the Tenerife Sur Airport (2009-2016).

In the Tenerife South stage, it has contributed to its development, culminating in the commissioning of the largest expansion in the history of the Airport and participating in the working group created to define the Comprehensive Remodeling of the Reina Sofía Airport Terminal Area. He has also led the implementation of health protocols, obtaining the ACI Health Certification during the COVID pandemic.

NEW DIRECTOR OF TENERIFE SOUTH

Luis López Chapi will be replaced by Juan Carlos Peg Ros as the new director of Tenerife South Airport. Peg, current director of the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, will assume the direction of the Airport on July 1.

Juan Carlos Peg is an aeronautical engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and has previously been director of La Palma Airport (2013-2018).

He assumed his position as director of the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport in 2018, where he had previously also developed his professional activity, both in the area of ​​engineering and maintenance (2007-2013) and operations and services (2002-2007).

During his time as director of the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, he has
outstanding for preparing it to face the challenges of Brexit, a key aspect as it is the majority British market at that airport. Also during his leadership, Terminal 2 (inter-island flights) has been remodelled, improving the service provided to a key aviation model in the Canary Islands.

Peg has directed the implementation of the sanitary protocols, obtaining the ACI Sanitary Certification during the COVID pandemic.

NEW DIRECTOR OF EL HIERRO AIRPORT

For his part, Óscar González Betancort has been appointed as the new director of El Hierro Airport, a position he will assume as of July 1. María Teresa Cuenca Luengos, current director of the El Hierro facility, after three years at the helm of this aerodrome, has been appointed director of the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.

The next director of the Herreño aerodrome has a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Valencia and a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Since 2020, González Betancort has been responsible for the Airport Services Section of the Tenerife North Airport-Ciudad de La Laguna, a position that he has combined for almost a year with the responsibilities of the Operational Safety Management System.

During that time, González Betancort has carried out intense work in different areas of the Tenerife North-City of La Laguna Airport, highlighting his active participation in the implementation of the sanitary protocols that have allowed the Airport to obtain the ACI Sanitary Certification during the pandemic. of COVID. His work in the area of ​​airport services has had a very positive impact on different aspects of the ASQ indicators of quality perceived by passengers.
