Two arrested in two operations against drug trafficking in the Canary Islands

Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Section of Fiscal Protection and Borders of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, together with members of Customs Surveillance, have carried out two operations in which they have resulted in two people arrested for an alleged crime of drug trafficking in Tenerife.

The first intervention took place on April 28, when, as a result of the fiscal inspection points that have been carried out in the Tenerife North Airport a package was identified that, according to the statement, It was transporting car parts, but it actually contained 25 kilos of hashish inside.

Due, investigators proceeded to set up a device to identify the owner of the package, who turned out to be a resident of Gran Canaria, from where he had traveled by plane that same morning to pick up the package. When the suspect was preparing to leave the island by boat, he was intercepted and he was arrested.

The detainee was transferred to the Civil Guard offices of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife pier, where proceedings were instructed, passing on the morning of April 29 to judicial disposition in the Court of Instruction in guard functions.

Postal package with marijuana

The second intervention took place on May 13, when an individual of British nationality who was spending a long vacation period, beginning at the beginning of April, in the municipality of Adeje, was identified and detained.

The investigators verified that, during this period, the suspect took the opportunity to introduce, through postal parcel shipments from different countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States, different quantities of marijuana buds that reached a total gross weight of more than five kilos. This drug was sent to his vacation home to, supposedly, proceed to its distribution.

The detainee was transferred to the offices of the Civil Guard of Playa de Las Américas, where proceedings were instructed, passing on the morning of the 14th to judicial disposition in the Court of Instruction of Arona in guard functions.
