Tacoronte organized this Thursday May 26 its I Job Fair in the Plaza del Cristo and the Casa de la Cultura, an event that brought together more than 20 entities that showed the resources, services and projects available in the municipality and in the rest of the region of Acentejo to improve training, job placement and self-employment. This appointment to fight against unemployment and offer new work alternatives to Tacoronteros arrives, according to the mayor, Jose Daniel Diaz (NC)at a good time for the town, «which closed the year 2021 with very good employment figures, with the lowest unemployment rate in the last 14 years and with the largest number of Social Security affiliates in our history. That is why we believe that if we continue working with this type of initiative, we will also be able to fight against the structural unemployment that we suffer here and in the rest of the Canary Islands.”
Diaz said that this I Tacoronte Employment Fair “It has allowed so many entities to show their services and projects and offer alternatives for the future to people who are looking for work, want to improve it or bet on self-employment.” In his opinion, “it has been a very important event, which has received almost a thousand people throughout the day, with groups from other municipalities, such as Los Silos or Santa Úrsula; students of the institutes of Tacoronteand a large number of young people from the region».
The councilor responsible for the Employment and Local Development Agency, Violeta Moreno (SSP)detailed the importance of having in this fair social economy companies and resources for employment, such as Envera, Solidarity Trampoline, Red Anagos, Domitila Association, Rayuela Association, Actúa, Afes, Inserta Empleo or the Network of Insertion Companies Adeicanas well as the training and entrepreneurship initiatives of Neighborhoods for Employment, Red Cross, Generation 21, Radio Ecca, Agricultural Extension and Rural Action Group or the Chamber of Commerce.
“Our idea is that people have been able to enjoy a space in which to find out about all the projects that exist and, in addition, take home the information about the large amount of resources to find a job or start a business project. We think a lot about young people, but it has been open to everyone. We believe that the need to publicize the existing service offerings has been met”, he stressed. The intention of Tacorontero government (NC-PSOE-SSP) is to reorganize the second edition in 2023.
Among the participants, the Chamber of Commercewhich was in charge of advising on the creation of companies, training for young people and those over 45 years of age, and offering services such as the procedures for registering new companies or the search for subsidies and aid to register as self-employed.
They also participated Agrarian Extension of the Cabildo and the Rural Action Group of Tenerifewhich focused on offering self-employment alternatives in the primary sector, reporting on existing subsidies and advising on the preparation of business plans and other procedures.
Generation 21a non-profit organization based in La Orotava, disclosed the courses and projects that are underway in person, blended and online. Among its extensive training catalog, free for unemployed people, there are courses in English, German, French, computer science, digital skills or application development.
