The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has brought together the mayors of several municipalities in the south of Tenerife to explain the agreement reached with Aena for the comprehensive remodeling of the Tenerife Sur airport, in which 8 million euros will be invested to drafting projects.
“We have a firm budget allocation commitment to execute an ambitious, quality project, in which the entire building is read, making it much more functional, with an overall design that responds to needs,” he details. in a note.
Martín was accompanied by the insular director of Coordination and Support to the President, Aarón Afonso, and by the technical team of the Cabildo that works on this project, made up of Pía Oramas and Arsenio Pérez, who made a detailed presentation of what has been planned for that the airport be a representative symbol of the island, in a single integrated building, that supposes a substantial improvement both in the experience of the passengers and in the quality of the services it provides.
The president reminded the mayors that of the total of 8 million euros, 6.3 million will go to the drafting of the project for the comprehensive remodeling of the terminal area, and another 1.7 million will be for actions complementary to that remodeling.
This meeting was prior to the inauguration of the new terminal, where the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, announced that the investment in the execution of this project will exceed 300 million euros and that the tender to write The project will be approved in June.
“We are going to have the airport that the island of Tenerife deserves, finally the investments that it needs now and for the future are going to be made. The agreement reached between the Cabildo and Aena is a point and followed,” he says.
Thus, he comments that at the next Aena board of directors “the agreement that is planned to be taken is to launch the future project for the Tenerife Sur airport, so that next year there will be proposals to work with and in which the Cabildo de Tenerife because the technical team is going to follow up to collaborate so that the final result is the best possible”.
The mayors of Granadilla, Vilaflor, Guía de Isora, Arico, San Miguel, Arona, Adeje and Candelaria participated in the meeting and during the meeting technical queries were made related to deadlines, financing or agreements reached.
The comprehensive remodeling of the Tenerife Sur airport will include, among other issues, the reorganization and execution of new accesses and car parks, the improvement of the urbanization, pedestrian areas and landscaping, a new unified check-in area, the improvement of the boarding areas that double their surface or the unification of the arrival halls in a single renovated hall.
