The City Hall of San Juan de la Rambla takes another step towards the goal of having the first emblematic hotel in the municipality. the rambler mayor, Ezequiel Dominguez (PSOE)confirm the publication in the State Contracting Platform of the announcement for the award of the drafting of the rehabilitation project of the house Delgado Oramas and the corresponding construction management for its transformation into a hotel establishment.

This administrative procedure foresees an investment of about 76,000 euros to entrust the drafting of the project, with a maximum delivery period of 6 months from the formalization of the contract. For the construction management, a period of 27 months is proposed. Offers may be submitted until June 9..

Ezekiel Dominguez assures that «we are going step by step, but walking and responding to improvements in the progress and development of our municipality. After the preparation of this file by the legal and technical services of the City Council for the rehabilitation of the Delgado Oramas house, the deadline is now open for all interested companies to submit their proposals.

The total investment for the execution of this initiative will be around two million euros

The mayor appreciates the efforts of the municipal technical staff to carry out this ambitious project, “with the few resources we have”, and also the support of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islandswhich provides the necessary subsidy to finance this procedure and the future work, valued at more than 1.5 million euros.

The rehabilitation of this building and its adaptation for tourist use will be carried out taking special care to respect the original state of an interior that has hardly been modified since the 18th century. The local government (PSOE-AIS-CC) has specified that each floor will be adapted to the different needs of the hotel, without important alterations of the structure: the basement will be a warehouse; the ground floor will house the common areas for lodging, such as the dining room, the reception, a garden, a swimming pool and a tourist information area; on the first floor would be the rooms, all doubles, and on the top floor, on the roof, there will be space for two special rooms with a terrace.

The house has an area of about 600 square meters, a large central patio and a backyard, made up of a long open gallery with a tile roof, flagstone floor, tea wood and still, as well as a large garden. Located on Calle La Alhóndiga, the Delgado Oramas mansion was built in the third quarter of the 18th century, although over the centuries it has undergone some modifications on the outside, especially. The facade was renovated to repair the damage caused by the great flood of 1826.

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands granted at the end of 2021 to the City Council of San Juan de la Rambla a direct subsidy of 1,614,000 euros that will make possible the long-awaited restoration of the historic Delgado Oramas mansion and its reconversion into a small emblematic school hotel. At the beginning of 2021, the Consistory invested around 200,000 euros in the acquisition of a house that was on the verge of ruin.

For the General Director of Tourism Infrastructure of the Canary Government, Fernando Minarro“the recovery of this 18th-century building to turn it into an emblematic hotel and tourist information point is an example of how we can preserve and enhance our historical and cultural heritage.”
