A total of 85 trails –three of them in Canary Islands– will premiere this summer the new award Blue Path Flagwhat recognizes and rewards the environmental, sustainable and heritage value of these roadsas well as the work carried out by administrations to promote activities in nature and sport and leisure.
The paths Confital Bay (The Gran Canarian palms), Time, in Mugcut (The Palm) and Litoral Punta del Hidalgo, in San Cristóbal de The lagoon (Tenerife), are the award-winning routes.
The award-winning trails, chosen by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), make up a network of almost 500 kilometers and are present in 73 municipalities belonging to 19 provinces in 10 communities; and Pontevedra (19), together with Castellón (9), have been the provinces that have achieved the most blue flags for trails this year.
By communities, Galicia is the one that offers the most sustainable routes with a total of 29 blue trails, followed by the Valencian Community (19), Andalusia (12), Principality of Asturias (6), Catalonia (5), the Balearic Islands and the Region of Murcia (4), the Canary Islands (3)Cantabria (2) and Extremadura (1).
