The court Granadilla number 1 agrees with the neighbors who have been squatting, some for almost ten years, the Tabaiba building in San Isidromunicipality of Granadilla de Abona, understanding that they are in a situation of social exclusion.

The Granadilla court has issued favorable sentences for the seven families that last Tuesday they had the first trials, for being in a vulnerable situation and for not being able to prove to the supposed owner that these houses belong to him, since they have never been officially registered.

The final sentence absolves these seven families of an alleged usurpation crime, while it is expected that the open cases with the rest of the families that reside in that building in the La Jurada area, up to a total of 48, will be filed, although there is the possibility that the alleged owner can extend the complaint.

Enormous joy among the residents of the building and the social activists in San Isidro that was experienced today, although they insist on the need for public institutions to act in the future with greater speed and forcefulness in future situations, “because if the neighbors are still in the building, it is not thanks to justice but thanks to themselves for never giving up and to the people who have come to resist the attacks, from the Desokupa company that boasts of aggressiveness and impunity”, state representatives of the Tenants Union of Tenerife.

Today the union announced that they have ended the camp that they have set up for 21 days at the only door that was left open at the entrance and exit of the Tabaiba building in San Isidro, after Desokupa closed the other three.

It must be remembered that on Friday, in the Cabildo, a motion of the Sí Podemos group will be debated, in which it requests that the Insular Corporation acquire the building to dedicate it to social rent, remembering that for this there is an own fund of three million euros.
