SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, which will hold its sixth edition from November 18 to 26, has opened the film registration period. The directors, producers and distributors may present their works until October 13, the closing date of the call for all categories.

The owners of the works are called to present their short films and feature films of any nationality, framed in the fantastic genre (horror, science fiction, fantasy, thriller, etc.), in the fiction and documentary modalities, both real image and animation. .

The Festival is in the process of programming and the selection committee is already working on the screenings of the titles that will configure the next edition of Isla Calavera.

In addition, on June 17, the first Isla Calavera 2022 pre-festival event will take place at Multicines Tenerife, in which the iconic sword and sorcery film ‘Conan the Barbarian’ will be screened, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Earl Jones, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, with the participation of special guests who will take part in a discussion after the viewing. In this framework, the first advances of the programming of the sixth edition of the Fantastic Film Festival of the Canary Islands will be announced.

The complete bases of the call and all the information on the procedure to present the materials are available on the web www.festivalislacalavera.com. Titles with a production date after January 1, 2021, that have not been commercially released in Spanish theaters, on television or video on demand platforms, are accepted. The maximum duration of short films is 20 minutes.

Registrations can be made through the Festhome and Filmfreeway digital platforms.

The selected works will form part of the program that will be displayed at Multicines Tenerife, the screening venue for the Isla Calavera Festival. The Jury of the Official Section for the contest will award the Isla Calavera awards for Best Short Film, Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, ‘Jack Taylor’ Award for Best Actor and ‘Colin Arthur’ Award for Best Special Effects.

The members of the Jury will also consider the granting of the ‘Fantastic Solidarity’ Award for the Best Short Film with solidarity and/or civic content. Likewise, there will be two public awards for Best Short Film and Best Feature Film, which will be decided by the attending spectators.
