Gran Canaria maintains level 3 to consolidate the improvement of the data

In the last day, the autonomous community added 156 infections of the pathogen and one death linked to its effects. The deceased, a 70-year-old woman in Tenerife, suffered from previous pathologies and remained in hospital.

By islands, Gran Canaria added 67 cases; Tenerife 57; Lanzarote 14; Fuerteventura nine; La Palma six; and La Gomera three. El Hierro managed to keep its overall record unchanged by not scoring new detections.

As reported yesterday by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Archipelago has registered 141 outbreaks of coronavirus in the last seven days, which represents the lowest figure in the last five weeks. And it is that on August 25, the department of the regional Executive notified 176 outbreaks; 184 on 18; 271 on 11; and 260 on day 4. The decrease is also extrapolated to the number of people affected, since the new outbreaks have 669 associated clinical pictures, 157 less than last week and 310 less than the previous one. Based on the data managed by the health administration, the most numerous have occurred in two vessels in Gran Canaria, with 12 and 11 cases each. In the course of this year, outbreaks have been registered in seven boats in the region, as this Wednesday Health reported another that occurred in another boat on the Island, with three affected patients.

Of the total of new outbreaks, 74 have been registered in Gran Canaria; 48 in Tenerife; nine in Lanzarote; eight in Fuerteventura; one on La Palma; and one in El Hierro. Taking into account the environment in which they have occurred, it must be said that 65 are framed in the family context; 43 in the social; 19 at work (with family ramifications in most of these); six in that of socially vulnerable groups; three in the health field; two in the educational one; one in the socio-sanitary; one in the sports car; and another in the penitentiary.

669 Affected people

The new outbreaks have 669 associated clinical pictures, which translates into a decrease. In fact, they are 157 less than the previous week and 310 less than the previous week.

In general, most have less than a dozen associated infections and only nine outbreaks reach or exceed this figure. Among these, in addition to those already described in the two vessels, another one produced in an office in Gran Canaria stands out, with ten people suffering from the condition. The rest of the outbreaks of greater magnitude have occurred in the area of vulnerable groups, in the social environment and in the family.

On the other hand, among the labor outbreaks, there is another that occurred in a hotel in Gran Canaria, with two workers involved, in addition to another registered in an aesthetic center on the same island with four employees diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection . Also, we must add one verified in a restaurant establishment in Tenerife, with four associated cases.

Regarding the health foci, two have been reported at the Doctor Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria –with family branches– and each one has four cases, while another has been detected at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital and has five affected – two patients and three workers.

Educational outbreaks –also with family ramifications– have been verified in Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. The one from the Isla Majorera counts nine afflicted -four of them minors-, although the one from Gran Canaria has three infections.

It should be noted that the sports outbreak is linked to swimming and has occurred in Gran Canaria. Right now, there are three people affected. With regard to the socio-sanitary outbreak, it should be noted that it has occurred in the Amavir Tejina Socio-Sanitary Center – in Tenerife – and affects three residents and three workers. Finally, the prison focus has taken place in Tenerife and combines three infections. In addition, another 67 outbreaks already reported in the region continue to be monitored.

Currently, in the Islands there are 12,829 active cases of the virus, 754 less than the previous day. Most are in Tenerife, where 7,776 people suffer from the disease. Gran Canaria follows, with 4,631 patients; Fuerteventura, with 227; Lanzarote, with 154; La Palma, with 25; El Hierro, with nine; and La Gomera, with seven.
