SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Insular Emergency Plan of La Palma (Peinpal) has approved in the meeting held yesterday Tuesday the reopening of the trail that was enabled at the time to observe the Cumbre Vieja volcano during last Easter.

The Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the Cabildo, Nieves Rosa Arroyo, explained that as of today these guided visits are resumed and it has also been agreed to establish Saturdays and Sundays so that these visits are directed to the people who reside in La Palma.

The Minister wanted to remind that this trail runs from the Llano del Jable, following part of the path of the Cabeza de Vaca road, and heads to a point near the cone of the volcano, although at a safe safe distance.

“After the success of the route during Easter, when it was activated in a timely manner, we considered it important to continue counting on these visits to be able to carry out controlled routes around the crater and having all the security guarantees to protect those people who would like to carry them out,” said Nieves Rosa Arroyo.

The counselor pointed out that it is a measure in which the entities that make up Peinpal, as well as with the island’s tourism companies, have been working in a coordinated manner, with the aim of starting these visits again in an orderly manner. and permanently.

“It is important to bear in mind that, despite the fact that this has a security protocol, it is possible that at some point it will not be possible to access if it is considered that the necessary measures to guarantee the well-being of people are not being complied with,” Arroyo said.

The counselor explained that they have worked hand in hand with the Tourism Service of the Cabildo and the El Paso City Council to enable this trail again. “Until next July 31 there will be slots dedicated to residents of the Island,” she explained.

Nieves Rosa Arroyo valued the collaboration that the local Consistory, hand in hand with its Councilor for Tourism, Omar Hernández, has provided to the initiative. In that sense, Hernández stressed that this decision “puts another joint action on the table so that not only visitors, but also residents can visit this trail,” making himself available to carry out coordination tasks.

Also important has been the work of advising and coordinating the proposal with the scientists of the IGME, in collaboration with the technicians of the Ministries of Environment and Emergencies, who have been in charge of making the recommendations for this geotourism action and establishing the carrying capacity of the path.

The places dedicated to the people of La Palma can be consulted through the website enabled by the El Paso City Council https://holaelpaso.es/rutas-al-volcan-para-residentes/where all the information is and you can register through that same link, as well as at the Tourist Information Office of the municipality.

In relation to the completion of the route for the general public, interested persons may inquire about them through the El Paso Tourist Information Office, in person or by calling 922 48 57 33, from 09:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. , from Monday to Friday, or from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Saturdays and Sundays.

They can also do so through the companies on the Island that manage the visits, which are Canary Live Experience, Graja Tours, Isla Bonita Tours, La Palma Natural, La Palma Outdoor, La Palma Stars, La Palma Transfer and Astronorte.
