The City Hall of Santa Cruz has awarded the rehabilitation and regeneration works of 11 buildings in the neighborhood of La Salud, “which means a boost in the quality of life of 102 families in the district Health-La Salle”, commented the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, since, “in terms of dates, if everything goes as it has to go, we would be starting with the interventions next June”.
These actions are part of the ARRU program (Urban Regeneration and Renovation Areas), in which the State, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo and the City Council participate, and through which more than 90% of the works in urban areas are financed. of the buildings that request to join.
The almost 1.5 million euros that this project of three lots of buildings in La Salud will cost implies the contribution by the Ministry of Housing of 41.64% (604,168 euros), the Government of the Canary Islands contributes 30% (435,280 euros ) and the Cabildo and the City Council cover 10.14% (147,124.7 euros) each. The communities of owners will be in charge of contributing the remaining 7.97% (116,074 euros), which means an amount of 1,375 euros per neighbor.
With regard to this last economic item, the City Council points out that, given the situations of residents who cannot execute an expense of more than 1,000 euros, when the neighborhood council approves the addition of a block to the ARRU program, the City Council itself -a through the Department of Social Attention-IMAS- is responsible for the total cost of that neighbor.
The 11 buildings in which action will be taken from next month have been awarded in three different lots, having been chosen through public tender to three different contracts specialized in the technical needs of each lot.
Fachadas Dimurol will be the company that assumes the first set of buildings, with a total budget of 661,260 euros; J&J Construcciones will be responsible for the rehabilitation of the second lot with an investment capital of 442,771 euros, and Ecocivil Electromur, with 346,903.79 euros, will tackle the restoration of the third lot that will regenerate the common spaces of this housing complex.
In this initiative, the most significant actions that the contractors will have to face are the need to repair facades, waterproofing roofs, adaptation and reform of electrical, plumbing, sanitation and telecommunications installations, as well as repairs to stairs and areas traffic of the blocks.

We give the possibility of improving the day-to-day life of citizens, in addition to promoting the construction sector while we modernize the buildings of the municipality”, concluded the Councilor for Municipal Housing, Juan José Martínez. For his part, Carlos Tarife, councilor responsible for Salud-La Salle, was “very satisfied with this new rehabilitation action.”
