Güímar inaugurates four charging points for electric vehicles

The first deputy mayor of Guimarthe socialist Airam Door, continues with its commitment to the conservation and care of the environment, as well as against climate change. Taking into account that the municipality has several protected natural spaces and a large influx of visitors to its towns and the coastal area, the Consistory has decided to set up four recharging points for electric cars, strategically installed in El Puertito de Güímar, the Wake of Fátima, the Youth House and the Town Hall area. The installation of the first four charging points was completed yesterday with their inauguration, with the presence of Airam Puerta and the head of the winning company, David Machín.

Being a place of obligatory passage to reach the south of the island of Tenerife, these new recharging points “become essential to guarantee the journey of electric vehicles”. Each of these stations will have two chargers, so that they can supply power to a total of eight electric vehicles at the same time. The capacity of these semi-fast charging points is 22 KW, so the vehicle will be 100% charged in 60 minutes, providing a minimum range of 120 kilometres.

The first deputy mayor of the Güímar City Council, Airam Puerta, sees the installation of these points as “a step forward for the Güímar Valley, since it inaugurates the offer of recharging points in the municipality and becomes a strategic place of connection for plug-in vehicles between the capital and the south of the Island”. “These steps are necessary – he highlights – to be able to meet the European decarbonisation objectives, without forgetting that this initiative will attract many citizens to our municipality, who, moved by the need to recharge, will have to stop along the way.”

The Canarian company of recharging and photovoltaic points EAVE has been in charge of installing these stations of the Wallbox brand, which “are the highest quality on the market”.

The commercial director of the winning company, David Machín, expressed his satisfaction with Güímar’s contribution to “eradicating the deficit of recharging points in the Canary Islands, which is estimated at a percentage well below the average, and represents the main obstacle for the leap to sustainable mobility”.

In addition, there is an important bonus in the IBI for the installation of photovoltaic panels, and the municipality of Güímar is one of the municipalities that deducts the most, 50% of the receipt for 25 years, 20% more, for example, than in the Candelaria municipality.
