SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 19 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Agents of the National Police, within the framework of ‘Operation Santoña’ against the fraudulent administrative regularization of foreign citizens in Spain, have arrested nine people between the ages of 24 and 70 in Tenerife and dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to these activities that operated , mainly, in the southern part of the island.

Among the crimes imputed to the detainees are those of belonging to a criminal organization, false documents and favoring clandestine immigration.

The police action began months ago, at the end of 2021, when, through other investigations, information emerged that pointed to the existence of an organization dedicated to falsifying the documents necessary to process residence permits for foreign citizens in Spain.

The inquiries carried out by the agents showed that this organization operated in the southern part of the island and, for a greater appearance of veracity, the requests they made were made under the guise of consultancies or law firms specializing in immigration matters, details the Police in a note.

The clients, mostly sub-Saharan migrants, paid different economic amounts that, in some cases, could amount to up to 3,000 euros.

Among the nine detainees, six of them supposedly belonging to the dismantled organization, there was a clear distribution of tasks, such as intermediation or forgery of documents.

The investigation continues and the National Police does not rule out new actions.

The operation has been carried out by national police from the Provincial Immigration and Borders Brigade of the Provincial Police Station of the National Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
