Deputy of the Common sees “inadmissible” the bad attention that some administrations give to citizens in the Canary Islands

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 19 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, said this Thursday that the public administration “has moved away” from citizens as a result of the health pandemic and has called it “inadmissible” that some make people wait “standing, in the sun and in the rain, and they can only enter one at a time” when supermarkets or restaurants have been accessed normally for many months.

At a press conference after presenting the annual report to the Governance, Justice and Security Commission, he commented that “measures must be taken” and in that sense, he proposed that telephone service be eliminated through “a machine” and be personalized as many people “get lost in a maze of numbers”.

Yanes has given as an example of the “seriousness” of the situation the attention provided by Social Security in the Canary Islands –complaints to the Diputación have grown by 96%– because many times it is a telephone “that does not answer and when he does” he gives a date on another island.

He has pointed out that the lack of personnel worsened as of 2011 when the reservation of places for the Canary Islands and other territories far from the Peninsula was eliminated, for which he has urged to “replenish” the lost personnel since there are many benefits that are not being adequately attended .

Along these lines, he stressed that the Parliament of the Canary Islands approved a Non-Legal Proposal in which the improvement of the service is requested. It has already been transferred to the Ombudsman and they are awaiting a response. “It’s a clamor,” she commented.

On the dependency on the islands, which is what is “growing the most” in the number of complaints, he has announced that the Common Council has already finished the extraordinary report that will be presented to the regional Chamber next Thursday.

He has indicated that the report, with data from the Ministry of Social Rights, the councils, the regional government or the Ombudsman, “is very clear”, and with the contributions of the associations of the sector, he is convinced that it will be a ” turning point” to improve dependency in the archipelago.
