Two new business associations in the north of Tenerife

Entrepreneurs and professionals north of Tenerife come together to work for common goals and demands through two new associations in the region of the low island and in the municipality of Saint Ursula. It is the Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals for the Sustainability of the Low Islandrecently emerged in the VIII Environmental Conference of this region, and the Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals of Saint Ursula Supyme, “which was born in order to join efforts for the economic and commercial development of this town”.

After years in which business associationism has lived very low hours in the North, the creation of these two entities means the appearance of new interlocutors between the business sector, society and public administrations that, in the case of Saint Ursula, aspires to represent the interests of more than 480 companies based in this municipality of 15,000 inhabitants. The Isla Baja region is made up of the towns of Garachico (4,920 inhabitants), the silos (4,743), Goodview of the North (4,786) and The tank (2,829), which add up to a total population of about 17,300 people.

The ecotourism company Birding Canary Islandsone of the promoters of this group from the northwest of Tenerife underlines that “the decision and definitive impulse to create this group has been taken within the framework of the VIII Environmental Conference Isla Baja, which was the scene of the second meeting of its participants. Also present at this meeting was the president of the Isla Baja Consortium, Jose Gregorio Perez MedinaY Albert of Armsas a representative of Teno Rural Park. These two entities will serve as support to carry out some of the initiatives of this association”.

Meeting of the Association of Entrepreneurs for the Sustainability of Isla Baja The day

The group has brought together the business community of the region of the island that “works with sustainability criteria and that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda”. The twenty founding members of this new association undertake to “ensure compliance with this requirement to form part of it”.

In addition, this entity has determined that “the low island It will not be the only area of origin of the members: it has been determined that the business community of the adjoining municipalities or close to the region may also participate in this group as long as certain sustainability criteria are met in the development of their business and professional activity.

The main objective of the new Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals for the Sustainability of Isla Baja is to “ensure the defense of the sustainable development of the territory”. From Birding Canary Islands It is highlighted that this initiative “has been forging for almost a year where the first meeting of these businessmen with similar concerns and feelings regarding environmental values was held”. Among its founders, there are rural hotels, ecological farmers and ranchers, restaurateurs, sustainable artisans, active tourism and ecotourism companies, communication and biodiversity conservation professionals, and organizers of sustainable events.

The president of Supyme, Jose Chinearecently met with the mayor of Santa Úrsula, Juan Acosta (AISU)and the Councilor for Commerce, Elisa Hernandez (AISU)to convey to them “the actions and projects that this group intends to carry out once it reaches a certain number of associates”

The association is already working to take advantage of “the different lines of subsidies and aid destined exclusively to business groups of this type, which will allow us to undertake campaigns and improvements that will contribute to the promotion and strengthening of our commercial area”, according to the mayor himself.

The City Hall of Santa Ursula recognizes that it has firmly supported the constitution of Supyme, “because it will mean a new impetus for the local business fabric, since it will not only allow it to attract more aid and funds that companies would otherwise not be able to access, but also undertake joint actions that will have repercussions on the growth and consolidation of the 480 companies that the town has”, according to the mayor.

Among the projects planned by Supyme highlight the creation of a web platform, so that all associates have a presence on-line and that, optionally, they can sell their products or services. In addition, it is planned to reach an agreement with a delivery company to be able to offer the home delivery modality. They also work on commercial campaigns for different business sectors; agreements with providers of insurance, banking, legal advice, training or telephony “so that associated companies can benefit from special economic conditions”, and a discount card to “be able to make purchases between associates with great advantages”.

the mayor of Saint Ursula underlines that “union is strength” and is convinced that “this business association will bring great growth opportunities to our companies, so I encourage all the businessmen and women of Santa Úrsula to join this initiative that we have already begins to take its first steps.
