SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Since last Friday, the Canary Islands have registered a total of 1,116 new positives in COVID-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic. Currently, in the Archipelago there are 261 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 11 are in the ICU and 250 on the ward.
On the other hand, the Canary Islands have registered five deaths since Saturday. All cases, with previous pathologies and in hospital admission, were reported in Tenerife. The deceased persons were aged between 60 and 95 years.
This has been reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, following the new indicators included in the Strategy for Surveillance and Control of COVID-19, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities.
The accumulated number of cases of coronavirus among this group amounts to 61,298 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 836.04 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 450.42.
