If Taganana celebrated its 521st anniversary yesterday, San Andrés did the same with its parish, which celebrates 275 years of its foundation. The acts were attended by the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, the councilor of the Anaga District, Inmculada Fuentes, and the mayor of Infrastructures, Dámaso Arteaga. The bishop also went to the parish of San Andrés to officiate the commemorative mass of such an important date.

It was in 1747 when Bishop Juan Francisco Guillén erected the parish of San Andrés because in that place there were already Christian faithful, being the first daughter of the mother church of the Concepción de Santa Cruz, given the need for its neighbors to comply with their religious obligations.

The creation of the parish had been requested by its neighbors, those of Igueste and Bufadero, being the Beneficiary Rector of La Concepción Dr. Don Ignacio Logman. Before the notary “public notary” of the port of Santa Cruz, Mr. José Vianés de Salas, the parish priest Logman agreed to the wish of his parishioners, with the consent of the Bishop, Mr. Juan Francisco Guillen. The document is dated February 13, 1747.
