The Municipality of La Orotavathrough its Department of Youth, organizes the next canaries dayon May 30, the XXIX edition of the Villa de La Orotava Photographic Marathon. It will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and to participate it will be necessary to register, free of charge, before until Sunday 29.
On the day of the marathon, the participants must be at the information point installed in the Plaza de La Constitución at 9:00 am, where they will be credited with a participation number. The theme of the photographs, as always, will be linked to the municipality of La Orotavabut it will be announced that same day.
The photographs, which must be taken with a digital camera, they will be presented in JPG format with a recommended resolution of 2048 by 1360 pixels. Retouching of these is only allowed when it is to apply filters that improve their quality, such as brightness, contrast or transparency. The winners of category A (up to 17 years old) will get a prize of 75 euros for the best photo and 150 euros for the best series of photographs. For their part, the winners of category B (18 years and older) will receive a prize of 200 euros for the best photo and 300 euros for the best series.
The Department of Youth will distribute four prizes of 75, 150, 200 and 300 euros
On June 10 it will be convened in the house of youth to the participants, starting at 6:30 p.m., for the projection of the works of the ten finalists of both categories for the best photography selected by the jury and will be put to the vote of the participants who attend, establishing the prize for the best photo of both categories. It will be the jury’s job to determine the winners of both categories for the best series, which may be declared void in the event that the jury so determines.
The aim of this contest is for photography enthusiasts to be able to demonstrate their talents in this art, while at the same time discovering a different vision of the Villa, seeking perspectives and highlighting details that usually go unnoticed.
