SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organization of Museums and Centers (OAMC), has organized an extensive program that includes conferences and workshops for children on the occasion of International Museum Day, which is celebrated annually on May 18.

The Island Councilor for Museums, Concepción Rivero, highlighted that these activities are an opportunity to get closer to the Museums of Tenerife, “incomparable places of discovery that have the power to transform the world around us”.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) proposes this year ‘The power of museums’ as its motto, through three specific lines of work: sustainability, innovation in digitization and accessibility, as well as community building through education.

To do this, Tenerife Museums proposes a series of activities aimed at participation, both individually, with the assistance of the general public, and in groups, with the reception of educational centers or associations.

Among the programming, the Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA) presents a children’s workshop, two conferences and a scientific café. The Chipeque children’s workshop, the Guanche child and his goat will take place in the mornings from May 16 to 20, with the proposal of setting and freely representing a scene from said story.

On the other hand, on Monday, May 16, the MUNA will host the conference From Hospital to Museum, with the director of the Museum of Natural Sciences, Fátima Hernández Martín, and the director of the Archaeological Museum and the ICB, Conrado Rodríguez Martín, who will address the history of the museum building.

To these activities will be added the conference NRBC War in the 21st century? Biological warfare, which will take place on Wednesday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m., and the Scientific Café: Before, during and after the La Palma 2021 eruption, same day, at 6:00 p.m.

The Museum of Science and the Cosmos (MCC) offers the conference Supermassive Black Holes next Tuesday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m. To this will be added another on the challenge of the Gran Telescopio Canarias, which will take place on Wednesday, May 18 at 6:00 p.m.

In addition, the Museum will host the celebration of the Canary Islands Scientific Communication Meeting (CoCiCan) next Friday, May 20 at 3:00 p.m. and will also dedicate a family workshop on May 20 and 21 with the title of El Ovonauta. Likewise, he will carry out solar observations on the terrace of the Museum, with all the schools that attend during his visit, from May 16 to 20.

The Museum of History and Anthropology (MHA), at its headquarters in Casa Lercaro, presents a temporary and ephemeral exhibition entitled Emotions adrift, which can be visited from Wednesday, May 18. This proposal gathers the visions and experiences that the migrants themselves have of the migratory flows. In this way, it is intended to offer a different and participatory approach from various facets that come together in the multiverse reality of migration.

The Documentation Center of the Canary Islands and America (CEDOCAM) also joins this celebration with a monograph with publications from the Museums of Tenerife to publicize, through the entity’s website and virtually, the publications edited by the Organism Autonomous Community of Museums and Centers (OAMC). All of them with a common goal: the dissemination of culture.

Museums of Tenerife remember that the entire program can be consulted on the web www.museosdetenerife.org as well as make the previous reservation in several of its activities.
