SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has put out to public tender the drafting of the project to rehabilitate Casa Lola or Casa de la Cueva in Guía de Isora, an action to which an item of 85,000 euros will be allocated. In the tender, which has already been published so that interested companies can present their offers, the contracting of the construction management for the execution of the project is also contemplated for an amount of 77,000 euros.

The insular director of Territory Planning and Historical Heritage, Emilio Fariña, highlighted that it is an emblematic building in Guía de Isora that stands out for its extraordinary heritage value. “Given the deterioration that the property has suffered over the years, this improvement action is necessary to guarantee its conservation. The rehabilitation work on the house, owned by the Cabildo, will allow us to continue preserving and giving life to our heritage , just as we have been doing in different parts of the insular geography,” he said.

Emilio Fariña announced that the intention of the Island Corporation is to adapt said space to turn it into a multidisciplinary center that contributes to revitalizing social and cultural life in Guía de Isora. “Its good location, in the historic center, offers many possibilities for the enjoyment of both residents and visitors, with the consequent cultural revitalization that it will entail for the municipality. Its preservation will also allow the dissemination of the traditions of Guía de Isora, It is planned that it will host exhibitions and activities in which local products, agriculture and gastronomy will have a place, among other promotional actions, to bring the valuable natural, cultural and ethnographic resources of the municipality closer to the public,” he explained.

The mayor of Guía de Isora, Josefa Mesa, pointed out that the City Council has been waiting for this project to be carried out for some time. “We hope that this will serve to continue with the rehabilitation and we are closer to seeing Casa Lola converted into a space that acts as a dynamic element of the municipality. This must be a reference place in which to carry out various cultural activities to make it more attractive the Isoran helmet,” he added.

The construction system of the property is characteristic of the Canarian historical and architectural typology. Its distribution on several floors around a central courtyard “will allow us to have several spaces to carry out different activities, of a cultural, traditional, leisure and tourist nature,” said the island official.

Specifically, on the first floor it is proposed to enable a multidisciplinary space, as open as possible, so that it can be used as a room for holding acoustic concerts, traveling exhibitions, talks and workshops. The second floor is intended to be dedicated to a permanent exhibition of the work of the Isorano painter Manuel Martín González (1905-1988), considered one of the best Canarian landscape painters.

The upper floor will also be fitted out as an exhibition hall or a space for events linked to historical and artistic heritage with the possibility of organizing meetings on the roof terrace, which is large and has a direct view of the town square and church tower.
